The Short-Term Employment Visa is issued to foreign nationals engaged in temporary work assignments in the Solomon Islands.

Visa Requirements
- Fill in Employment Visa form in eVisa portal.
- Submit valid passport biopage and details.
- Submit valid work permit from the Solomon Islands Commissioner of Labour.
- Police report (from country of origin).
- Medical report (from country of origin).
- Sponsor letter of Indemnity.
- Pay online fee.
- Pay visa application fee.
Who Should Apply
This visa is for individuals contracted for short-term work, consultancy, technical projects, or seasonal employment within the Solomon Islands.
Processing time
- The processing time may vary for different visa categories, there is no specific timeframe, however all applications will be processed when registered in our system.

When you get your visa
Once your visa is approved, we will send your grant letter through your email that you provided.
Your visa is valid from:
- the date you entered Solomon Islands.
- the date your visa is granted.
How to Apply
Applicants must provide a Letter of Support from the Labour Division authorizing their employment. Proof of assignment, work permit (if required), and supporting documentation must be submitted at the time of application.
Note: No extensions are allowed under this visa. A new application must be lodged if further employment is required beyond the six-month validity.
Character requirements for the visa
- There is a character concern about a person if –
- the person has a record of serious criminal conduct, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
- the person has been convicted for more than one criminal offence, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
- the person is a threat to national security, connected to terrorist act, people trafficking, child sex, drug smuggling.
- the person is acquitted of an offence on the grounds of unsoundness of mind or insanity, detained in a facility.
Cancellation of visa
- The Director of Immigration may cancel a visa if –
- there is a character concern about the person applying for the visa.
- the visa was obtained through fraud or false information or document.
