Visa Requirements
- Submit Research permit from the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development.
- Fill in Research Academic form in eVisa portal.
- Submit valid passport biopage.
- Pay online fee.
- Pay visa application fee.
Important
You must apply outside of Solomon Islands. You may not be allowed into Solomon Islands if your passport validity is less than 6 months. Makesure you attach all required documents with your application.

University researchers, scientific field workers, or academic staff conducting approved studies.
Processing time
- The processing time may vary for different visa categories, there is no specific timeframe, however all applications will be processed when registered in our system.
- After you apply online for your visa, log into your account to check your visa status.
- We will notify you through your email once we make a decision.
- To prevent delays in processing time, please attach all required documents with your application.
When you get your visa
Once your visa is approved, we will send your grant letter through your email that you provided.
Your visa is valid from:
- the date you entered Solomon Islands.
- the date your visa is granted.
Important
You must present a copy of your grant letter when you enter Solomon Islands.
How to Apply
A Third-Party Note or Ministerial Letter of Approval is required as part of the application.
Character requirements for the visa
- There is a character concern about a person if –
- the person has a record of serious criminal conduct, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
- the person has been convicted for more than one criminal offence, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
- the person is a threat to national security, connected to terrorist act, people trafficking, child sex, drug smuggling.
- the person is acquitted of an offence on the grounds of unsoundness of mind or insanity, detained in a facility.
Cancellation of visa
- The Director of Immigration may cancel a visa if –
- there is a character concern about the person applying for the visa.
- the visa was obtained through fraud or false information or document.
