Dependent of Foreign Diplomat or Solomon Islands Citizen (Non-Working)
This visa is for dependent (spouse or child) of foreign diplomat or Solomon Islands citizens who intend to live temporarily in Solomon Islands. It does not allow paid employment.

Who Should Apply
- Family members of accredited diplomats or returning citizens who wish to accompany or join the primary visa holder.
- Family members of Public Servant citizens 11 (1) (b) of the Immigration Act 2012.
Visa Requirements
- Complete application form in the eVisa portal.
- Provide a valid copy of Foreign / Solomon Islands passport bio page.
- Provide a copy of Marriage (for spouse) or Birth (for children) Certificate.
- Provide a support letter from the sponsor (likely from the Ministry of Public Service/SIG Institutions confirming employment of the foreigner or citizen).
Important
You must apply outside of Solomon Islands. You may not be allowed entry if your passport validity is less than 6 months. Check all your documents are ready when you apply.
Visa processing time
- The processing time may vary for different visa categories. We do not guarantee a specific timeframe, but we will process your application in a timely manner.
- After you apply online for your visa, log into your account to check your visa status.
- We will notify you through your email once we make a decision.
- To prevent delays in processing time, please attach all required documents with your application.
When you get your visa
Once your visa is approved, we will send your electronic grant letter through your specific email that you provided during the application.
Your visa approved period of stay is valid from;
- the date you entered into Solomon Islands; or
- the date when your visa is granted.
Important
You must present a copy of your grant letter when you enter Solomon Islands.
How to Apply
- Click on the “Apply for a Visa” button to begin your application.
- You will be required to register an account before proceeding.
- Register using a valid email address and create a secure password.
- After registration, log in to your account using your email and password.
- Once logged in, complete the online visa application form and submit your application.

Specific requirements for the visa
- there is an approved sponsor for the applicant; and
- if the applicant is married (spouse) to the sponsor; and
- the relationship between the applicant and the sponsor is current, exclusive and ongoing; and
- if the applicant is the natural child, the legally adopted, or the step child of the applicant; and
- the applicant is aged under 18 at the time the application is made; and
- the entry of the applicant in to Solomon Islands will not breach the rights of any other person entitled to lawful custody of the applicant; and
- the sponsor intends to, and has sufficient means to, care for the applicant.
Terms of the visa
- the visa holder is authorised to enter Solomon Islands multiple times.
- the period of entry validity for the visa granted on the application made outside Solomon Islands is the period of 3 months starting on the day the visa is granted, unless visa evidence specifies a different period.
- the period of stay for the for the applicant is, unless the visa specifies a different period, the period ending on the last day of the period of stay for the visa held by the visa holder’s sponsor.
Conditions for the visa
- the visa holder must not engage in work in Solomon Islands, whether or not for remuneration, unless he or she holds a work permit under the Labour Act.
Character requirements for the visa
- There is a character concern about a person if –
- the person has a record of serious criminal conduct, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
- the person has been convicted for more than one criminal offence, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
- the person is a threat to national security, connected to terrorist act, people trafficking, child sex, drug smuggling.
- the person is acquitted of an offence on the grounds of unsoundness of mind or insanity, detained in a facility.
Cancellation of visa
- The Director of Immigration may cancel a visa if –
- there is a character concern about the person applying for the visa.
- the visa was obtained through fraud or false information or document.
