Sponsor letter/letter of indemnity.
Submit valid passport biopage and details.
Pay online fee.
Pay visa application fee.

Important You must apply outside of Solomon Islands. You may not be allowed entry if your passport validity is less than 6 months. Check all your documents are ready when you apply.

Visa processing time

When you get your visa

Once your visa is approved, we will send your electronic grant letter through your specific email that you provided during the application.

Your visa approved period of stay is valid from;

the date you entered into Solomon Islands; or
the date when your visa is granted.

Important You must present a copy of your grant letter when you enter Solomon Islands.

How to Apply

Applicants must provide the personal details of the sponsoring Solomon Islands citizen, including name, address, and proof of relationship. Documents such as a marriage certificate, birth certificate, or national ID of the sponsor may be required.

Note: This visa supports family reunification. If the sponsoring citizen is not employed, the dependent may be granted work rights. Extensions are not permitted; applicants must reapply upon expiry.

Specific requirements for the visa

Under section 18 (1,2) of the Immigration Act 2012, Immigration Regulation 2013, regulation 53

there is an approved sponsor for the applicant; and
if the applicant is married (spouse) to the sponsor; and
the relationship between the applicant and the sponsor is current, exclusive and ongoing; and
if the applicant is the natural child, the legally adopted, or the step child of the applicant; and
the applicant is aged under 18 at the time the application is made; and
the entry of the applicant in to Solomon Islands will not breach the rights of any other person entitled to lawful custody of the applicant; and
the sponsor intends to, and has sufficient means to, care for the applicant.

Terms of the visa

Under section 18 (1,2) of the Immigration Act 2012, Immigration Regulation 2013, regulation 54

the visa holder is authorised to enter Solomon Islands multiple times.
the period of entry validity for the visa granted on the application made outside Solomon Islands is the period of 3 months starting on the day the visa is granted, unless visa evidence specifies a different period.
the period of stay for the for the applicant is, unless the visa specifies a different period, the period ending on the last day of the period of stay for the visa held by the visa holder’s sponsor.

Conditions for the visa

Under section 18 (1,2) of the Immigration Act 2012, Immigration Regulation 2013, regulation 55

the visa holder must not engage in work in Solomon Islands, whether or not for remuneration, unless he or she holds a work permit under the Labour Act.

Character requirements for the visa

Under section 23 (1,2,3) of the Immigration Act 2012

There is a character concern about a person if –

the person has a record of serious criminal conduct, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
the person has been convicted for more than one criminal offence, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
the person is a threat to national security, connected to terrorist act, people trafficking, child sex, drug smuggling.
the person is acquitted of an offence on the grounds of unsoundness of mind or insanity, detained in a facility.

Cancellation of visa

Under section 21 (1,(c),(e)) of the Immigration Act 2012

The Director of Immigration may cancel a visa if –

there is a character concern about the person applying for the visa.
the visa was obtained through fraud or false information or document.
