Hong Kong - Mutual Visa Exemption

Solomon Islands and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People’s Republic of China will officially implement a reciprocal visa-free travel arrangement, effective 26 August 2026.

Who Should Apply

Hong Kong – Official/Diplomatic/Ordinary Passports. 

Visa Requirements
  1. Submit valid diplomat, official, ordinary passport biopage.
  2. Cover letter (purpose of travel).
  3. Support letter from SI based sponsor.
  4. Submit Travel documents/ticket.
Processing time
  • The processing time may vary for different visa categories, there is no specific timeframe, however all applications will be processed when registered in our system. 
  • After you apply online for your visa, log into your account to check your visa status.
  • We will notify you through your email once we make a decision.
  • To prevent delays in processing time, please attach all required documents with your application.
When you get your visa

Once your visa is approved, we will send your grant letter through your email that you provided.

Your visa is valid from:

  • the date you entered Solomon Islands.
  • the date your visa is granted.
How to Apply

  2. You will be required to register an account before proceeding.
  3. Register using a valid email address and create a secure password.
  4. After registration, log in to your account using your email and password.
  5. Once logged in, complete the online visa application form and submit your application.

MOU agreement for the visa

The agreement marks another important milestone in strengthening the friendly relations between Solomon Islands and HKSAR.

Under the agreement, nationals of Solomon Islands holding valid Solomon Islands passports and permanent residents of Hong Kong SAR holding valid HKSAR passports will be exempt from visa requirements for entry, exit, transit and temporary stays in each other’s territories.

Visitors will be permitted to stay for up to 30 days on each visit without the need to obtain a visa.

The visa-free arrangement is expected to promote greater people-to-people exchanges, facilitate tourism, encourage business and investment opportunities and strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
