PIDC Board Convenes in Brisbane, Australia

The Pacific Immigration Development Community (PIDC) successfully convened its second Board Meeting of the 2025/2026 Financial Year.
The meeting was hosted by Australia Department of Home Affairs, in Brisbane Australia, from the 2nd to the 3rd of March 2026.

Chaired by Ms Telesia Kaitapu, Director of Immigration for Tonga, the meeting brought together Heads of Immigration from its elected Board
Members – Fiji, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Tokelau, Nauru and the Cook Islands, and permanent Board Members – Australia, New Zealand and Samoa.

Over the two days, the Board discussed key strategic priorities, strengthened regional collaboration, and endorsed important resolutions aimed at protecting and enhancing immigration security, enabling regular migration and support secured border mechanisms across all its 21 PIDC Member Countries. The Board also discussed preparations for its 28th Regular Annual Meeting, scheduled from the 8th to 12th June at Suva, Fiji. The PIDC Secretariat extends its sincere appreciation to all Board Members for their leadership, commitment, and strong support throughout the meeting; and heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Australia’s Department of Home Affairs for hosting the Board meeting.

A Regional Consultation will be held from the 4th to 6th March 2026 with Board members, facilitated by Dr. Danielle Watson and selected curriculum development specialists. The Consultation will focus on advancing women leadership across the Immigration agencies of the PIDC membership.
