Indonesia - Mutual Visa Exemption

This visa is issued at the discretion of the Solomon Islands Government MOU with Indonesia.

Who Should Apply

Indonesian citizens with – Official/Diplomatic/Ordinary Passports. 

Visa Requirements
  1. Complete application form online through the eVisa portal.
  2. Submit valid diplomat, official, ordinary passport biopage.
  3. Submit existing support sponsor letter or travel arrangements.
  4. Submit Indonesian valid diplomatic, official or ordinary travel identification documents.
Processing time
  • The processing time may vary for different visa categories, there is no specific timeframe, however all applications will be processed when registered in our system. 
  • After you apply online for your visa, log into your account to check your visa status.
  • We will notify you through your email once we make a decision.
  • To prevent delays in processing time, please attach all required documents with your application.
When you get your visa

Once your visa is approved, we will send your grant letter through your email that you provided.

Your visa is valid from:

  • the date you entered Solomon Islands.
  • the date your visa is granted.
How to Apply
  1. Click on the “Apply for a Visa” button to begin your application.
  2. You will be required to register an account before proceeding.
  3. Register using a valid email address and create a secure password.
  4. After registration, log in to your account using your email and password.
  5. Once logged in, complete the online visa application form and submit your application.

MOU agreement for the visa

Indonesia and the Solomon Islands are strengthening bilateral ties through several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) focused on education, health, policing, security, and women/youth empowerment. As of early 2026, the two nations are working on a five-year development framework covering agriculture, fisheries, and maritime transport, with ongoing discussions for an air services agreement and potential investment from Indonesian telecommunications firms.

Key Aspects of Indonesia-Solomon Islands Cooperation (2025-2026)

  • MOUs in Progress (As of Sept 2025): Three major MOUs were under discussion covering education/health, policing/security, and women/youth empowerment.
  • Existing Agreements: A visa exemption MOU for diplomatic and service passport holders was signed in September 2022. Ordinary passport holders from the Solomon Islands can travel to Indonesia visa-free.
Character requirements for the visa
  1.  There is a character concern about a person if – 
  • the person has a record of serious criminal conduct, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
  • the person has been convicted for more than one criminal offence, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
  • the person is a threat to national security, connected to terrorist act, people trafficking, child sex, drug smuggling.
  • the person is acquitted of an offence on the grounds of unsoundness of mind or insanity, detained in a facility. 
Cancellation of visa
  1.  The Director of Immigration may cancel a visa if – 
  • there is a character concern about the person applying for the visa.
  • the visa was obtained through fraud or false information or document.
