This visa is issued at the discretion of the Solomon Islands Government MOU with the United Arab Emirates.

Who Should Apply

United Arab Emirates citizens with – Official/Diplomatic/Ordinary Passports. 

Visa Requirements
  1. Complete application form online through the eVisa portal.
  2. Submit valid diplomat, official, ordinary passport biopage.
  3. Submit existing support sponsor letter or travel arrangements.
  4. Submit UAE valid diplomatic, official or ordinary travel identification documents.
Processing time
  • The processing time may vary for different visa categories, there is no specific timeframe, however all applications will be processed when registered in our system. 
  • After you apply online for your visa, log into your account to check your visa status.
  • We will notify you through your email once we make a decision.
  • To prevent delays in processing time, please attach all required documents with your application.
When you get your visa

Once your visa is approved, we will send your grant letter through your email that you provided.

Your visa is valid from:

  • the date you entered Solomon Islands.
  • the date your visa is granted.
How to Apply
  1. Click on the “Apply for a Visa” button to begin your application.
  2. You will be required to register an account before proceeding.
  3. Register using a valid email address and create a secure password.
  4. After registration, log in to your account using your email and password.
  5. Once logged in, complete the online visa application form and submit your application.

MOU agreement for the visa

Solomon Islands and the UAE have a reciprocal visa exemption agreement, in effect since September 2022, allowing citizens of both nations holding all passport types to enter each other’s countries visa-free for up to 90 days. The agreement aims to boost tourism, trade, and bilateral relations. 

Key Details of the Agreement

  • Validity: Covers all passport classifications (ordinary, official, diplomatic).
  • Duration: Maximum of 90 days.
  • Requirement: Passports must have at least 6 months’ validity.
  • Implementation: Officially in place as of September 2022. 
 

Other Relevant Information

  • The Solomon Islands has also signed similar, separate visa exemption agreements with other nations, such as the People’s Republic of China (for diplomatic/official/service passports) and Saudi Arabia.
  • The agreement with the UAE is designed to enhance diplomatic, economic, and people-to-people connections.
  • For travellers with a valid UAE residency, it may also help in securing, or in some cases, bypassing, visa requirements for other destinations.
  • The agreement for visa-free entry, as discussed in the Solomon Business Magazine article, supports the strengthening of bilateral relations.

Character requirements for the visa
  1.  There is a character concern about a person if – 
  • the person has a record of serious criminal conduct, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
  • the person has been convicted for more than one criminal offence, whether in Solomon Islands or in a foreign country.
  • the person is a threat to national security, connected to terrorist act, people trafficking, child sex, drug smuggling.
  • the person is acquitted of an offence on the grounds of unsoundness of mind or insanity, detained in a facility. 
Cancellation of visa
  1.  The Director of Immigration may cancel a visa if – 
  • there is a character concern about the person applying for the visa.
  • the visa was obtained through fraud or false information or document.
